Editorial policy: how we source, verify and correct our guides
Last updated 12 July 2026OnlineVisa.net publishes visa and travel-document information that people use to make real decisions. That responsibility shapes how we work. This page sets out where our information comes from, how we keep it current, how we handle mistakes, and why our independence matters.
Our sourcing standard
- Official portals first. Fees, validity, eligibility and process come from the issuing government’s own immigration portal — not aggregators, forums, or other travel blogs.
- We name the official source. Every country guide identifies the official government portal by name so you can go straight to it.
- We distinguish fixed facts from indicative figures. Where a fee or rule changes often, we say so and tell you to confirm the current amount on the official site.
How we keep guides current
- Dated reviews. Each guide shows when it was last reviewed. Fast-changing pages — new authorisation schemes, fee changes — are checked more frequently.
- Change monitoring. We watch for announced changes (new fees, new schemes like ETIAS, transit-rule updates) and revise affected pages.
- Reader reports. Accuracy reports from readers are treated as high priority — see corrections below.
What we will and won’t say
- We never claim to process visas or to influence a decision. Only the issuing government decides.
- We never promise approval or a specific processing time as a guarantee.
- We always direct you to apply on the official portal for the official fee, and warn about third-party markups.
- We state fees as the official government fee and note they can change.
Corrections
If we get something wrong, we fix it and update the review date. Spotted an outdated fee, a broken official link, or a rule that has changed? Tell us via the contact page. We prioritise accuracy reports and appreciate the help — keeping this information right is a shared effort.
Independence & how we’re funded
Because we never handle applications, we have no incentive to steer you toward a paid service. Our guides consistently tell you to use the official portal. Any advertising or affiliate arrangements, where present, are kept separate from our editorial guidance and never change our core advice: apply officially, for the official fee. Read more on our about page.
Scope & limits
We cover tourist and short-stay travel documents — eVisas, ETAs, visa-on-arrival, exemptions, and the practicalities around them. We are not lawyers or tax advisors; for work, study, complex immigration, or tax questions (including digital nomad tax), consult the relevant authority or a qualified professional. Our content is information, not legal advice.
